Commemorating the arrival of Caracalla at an important city or military headquarters - perhaps the great legionary fortress at York (Eboracum) where Severus died in the early months of AD 211.

This is the fifth coin in a group of six silver denarii of Commodus, Septimius Severus and Caracalla with reverses commemorating Roman military operations in northern Britain in the late 2nd and early 3rd centuries AD. These may be purchased individually at the prices stated or as a group for $450.
