ANTONINVS PIVS AVG BRIT / P M TR P XIIII COS III P P, Victory standing right on prow of galley, holding wreath and palm branch. References: RIC 185; RSC 188.

In commemoration of the return of the Imperial family to Rome following the campaigns in northern Britain and the death of Severus at York. The prow symbolizes the sea crossing from Britain to Gaul.

This is the fifth coin in a group of six silver denarii of Commodus, Septimius Severus and Caracalla with reverses commemorating Roman military operations in northern Britain in the late 2nd and early 3rd centuries AD. These may be purchased individually at the prices stated or as a group for $450.
